Rickey Medlocke

Rickey Medlocke of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Blackfoot learned how to play many instruments during his childhood. He learned a lot from his grandfather, who was a professional musician. He started playing the banjo when he was three years old, started playing guitar at the age of five, and even learned drums when he was eight. Rickey was involved with Lynyrd Skynyrd from 1971 to 1972, then left right before Skynyrd released their debut album. He later returned to the band in 1996, and has been with them ever since. “It’s been great. This will be the way I finish out my career. I love it.”
