Rod Stewart Interview – 1973

In this 1973 interview, Rod Stewart chats about everything from his first love, football (soccer) to odd jobs including three weeks as a gravedigger before being discovered at the age of 18 in a London train station by Long John Baldry.  Rod reveals, “I’ve never wanted to be a leader of a band. I’ve never wanted to be a dictator. I just want to be the singer in the group.” Inevitably, Stewart is asked about the extraordinary number of women he has “whipped through”. Rod acknowledges his numerous trysts and quipped, “I’m going to do everything before I’m 35.  At 40 I’ll be dead.”  (YouTube)
