Corey GLover of Living Colour

Corey Glover got started with music through his family. His parents and siblings were all very musical and he wanted to follow in their footsteps, so he started singing in church just like his brother. Albums like Abraxas by Santana and Bitches Brew by Miles Davis were played in his house a lot. His whole world “got flipped around” when he was Bad Brains at CBGB’s. “The whole hardcore scene became all I was thinking about.” He became very involved in the hardcore scene and went to shows as often as possible. The scene was a very big influence for him. “My very first real band that actually played out & gigged was Living Colour.” He met guitarist Vernon Reid at a birthday party after he sang ‘Happy Birthday’ and impressed Vernon. A few months later, Vernon called Corey and asked him to audition for his band. “The rest is history. I love this band, I love Living Colour. It’s my family.”
